Creating His Own Employment

Unemployment is a big problem where I come from. The streets are full of homeless people begging at traffic lights. But some people are driven to create their own employment.

The man who rang our doorbell this morning is one of them.

He goes from door to door with a couple of cans of paint and some paintbrushes painting house numbers on the kerb for anyone willing to pay for the service. What he's doing is really useful because most house numbers aren't easily visible from the street after dark.

We were happy to pay him for the job.
